The short answer
Record the physical shot press, the stop, and the actual manual shot start. Rift’s source measures the cue from the shot output after Quickstop rather than the earlier pre-stop hold.

Rift connects Quickstop and release feedback in a documented shooting workflow.

- Enable the intended manual Quickstop path and release cue.
- Record one continuous stop-to-shot attempt.
- Mark the physical press, actual shot start, and vibration cue separately.
Use three timestamps or event notes
Even without precise measuring equipment, keep the sequence clear: button pressed, stop completed and shot started, cue felt. Do not use the first physical press as the only reference if the script intentionally delays the manual shot until after the stop.
Keep the inputs consistent
Use the correct manual-shot button for the current Button Rhythm state. Keep the cue value, movement direction, and attempt type fixed across trials. A different remap or special Turbo Shot choice can change the path and make the comparison invalid.
Interpret a later cue correctly
A cue later than the initial button press may match the intended shot-output timing. It is not automatically lag or lost settings. If the sequence differs, record the active build and inputs for support before changing every timing field.
Record these observations
| What to check | The useful detail |
|---|---|
| Physical start | When the player first held the shot input. |
| Shot start | When the manual shot output began after the stop. |
| Cue | Feedback relative to the actual shot start. |

Common questions
Should the cue always start from the first press?
Not on the supplied manual Quickstop path.
Is this a measurement of network delay?
No. It checks the sequence of the local control behavior.
